Lithuanian and German Foreign Ministers discuss reinforcement of security in our region

On 1 March in Vilnius, the meeting between the Lithuanian and German Foreign Ministers – Linas Linkevičius and Sigmar Gabriel – focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation, the security situation in our region, the deployment of the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania led by framework nation Germany, the situation in Ukraine, relations with Russia, the EU’s Eastern neighbourhood, the European agenda items, energy security, and other international policy issues. More

  

Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with the U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson

On 2 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius had a telephone conversation with the new U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. On this occasion, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister once again congratulated the chief U.S. diplomat on assuming office and stressed that the strategic partnership with the U.S. would continue to be a priority of Lithuania’s foreign policy. More

 

German Defense Minister awarded state decoration of Lithuania

Thursday, March 2, Vilnius – President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen to present her with the Grand Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania for personal support to the development of relations between Lithuania and Germany as well as for her contribution to strengthening bilateral military cooperation. The President underlined that with Ursula von der Leyen as head of the Defense Ministry, Germany demonstrated effective leadership in reinforcing the security of Lithuania and NATO’s eastern flank. More

Lithuania launches a Startup Visa program that will make it easier for innovative entrepreneurs from outside the EU to set up operations in Lithuania. Kaziukas’ Fair in Vilnius surprise – unprecedented €1.5

On 3 March, the first day of the traditional Kaziukas’ Fair in Vilnius, the Bank of Lithuania will issue into circulation collector coins dedicated to the Fair. Both coins will have the same design, but different denominations: a €1.5 coin from copper and nickel alloy (mintage – 25,000 pcs), and a €5 coloured silver coin (mintage – 2,000 pcs). The €1.5will be sold for €2 at Kaziukas’ Fair, the Bank of Lithuania announced. More
