Seventeenth Government Begins its Work

The Cabinet of the Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has begun its work, forming the 17th Government since the restoration of Lithuania’s independence. More

 

 

 

Minister Linkevičius: Lithuania and Poland are condemned to cooperate, there is no other way out

On 15 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius welcomed participants of the Lithuania-Poland roundtable discussion “Agenda for the future: policy synchronization in the face of challenges” at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania.

“Lithuania and Poland are neighbors, allies and close partners. In spite of the fact that sometimes there are road-blocks to neighborly relations, this relationship must be strong. We are doomed to cooperate, there is no other way out,” said Linkevičius. More

Lithuania's MRO provider FL Technics opens airplane service center in Indonesia

Following the Lithuanian Parliamentary elections earlier in October, a new Cabinet of Ministers was formed and sworn in on Tuesday, 13th December. On the same day, a new Government Programme was approved by the Parliament. The key targets set out in the Programme are to improve public sector efficiency and to reduce bureaucracy. The PPP model was given particular mention in the Programme, where it was identified as an important tool which should be more deeply integrated into long term investment plans at both Governmental and Municipal levels. More

Lithuania Square in Kyiv is a symbol of strong friendship

On her working visit to Ukraine, President Dalia Grybauskaitė opened Lithuania Square in Kyiv. The square symbolizes strong mutual friendship and people-to-people ties as this year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Ukraine.

Lithuania Square is in the center of Kyiv, near Saint Sophia’s Cathedral. According to the President, this square is a little piece of Lithuania that will always be in Ukraine. More

 

 

Simonas Bilis Wins 100 Freestyle Gold In New Lithuanian Record

Simonas Bilis gave Lithuania a gold medal at the 2016 FINA Short Course World Championships by winning the 100-meter freestyle in 46.58 seconds. More

 

 

Lithuanian diplomat’s book is among the 10 best historical books in Poland

Poland’s best historical books issued in 2015 were announced during a solemn event on 9 December at the National Library of Poland in the Krasiński Palace. Among other authors, the Lithuanian diplomat Audrius Žulys was also honored with the prestigious Polish prize – the Kazimierz Moczarski Award for History Research – for his book “Poland in Lithuania’s Foreign Policy, 1938-1939. The Study of Diplomatic History”. More

 

 

Uncovered facades of Kaunas Jesuit Church

Kaunas residents and guests that are now visiting the square of the town hall can enjoy not only the sight of the Christmas tree but also the newly restored façades of the St. Francis Xavier church.
