NATO enhanced Forward Presence personnel and equipment arrive in Lithuania from Germany

On February 1 advance party of roughly 70 soldiers of the Bundeswehr arrived at Kaunas Airport by two C-160 military aircraft. Over 450 German soldiers with their weaponry and over 100 military vehicles will form one o the maneuver units of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battalion, deployed in Lithuania alongside Dutch and Norwegian military personnel. More

 

  

Lithuania's President in Malta: we share common goals in the European Union

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca of Malta, which currently presides over the European Union, to discuss EU issues of key relevance to Lithuania and to share Lithuania’s presidency experience. The President will also discuss these issues with Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat. More

 

 

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates the new U.S. Secretary of State

On 2 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the new U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on assuming office. In his congratulation letter, Linkevičius emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the United States, the transatlantic link, close political and economic relations, as well as cooperation in the field of energy security. More

Baltic countries endorse their commitment to Rail Baltica

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis took part in the meeting of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic Council of Ministers in Tallinn, where he, together with the Latvian and Estonian colleagues, signed a Rail Baltica agreement. More  

 

Ikea's firm buys wind farm in northwest Lithuania

IRI Investment Lithuania, a company operated by Swedish furniture trade company Ikea Group, has purchased a 45-megawatt (MV) wind farm in the Mazeikiai district, northwestern Lithuania, which is one of the country's most efficient wind farms. More  

 

Top employer in the Netherlands choses Vilnius for first international office

Macaw, an award-winning employer and digital solution provider, has selected Vilnius as the location for its first office outside the Netherlands. In establishing a company in Vilnius, Macaw plans to grow exponentially and recruit highly talented information technology specialists who will develop Microsoft and Sitecore based solutions for international customers. More

Užupis - one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Europe

Travel portal Travel Supermarket partnered with travel bloggers published recommendations on the European neighbourhoods which will become tourism hotspots in 2017. The Bohemian Užupis district is 11th on the list. The neighbourhoods were assessed according to three criteria: culture, creativity, and value of the immovable property. Independent coffee shops, vintage fashion stores, independent bike shops, co-working spaces and art galleries/studios, lofts and other interesting places had to be present in these neighbourhoods. More

 

German media leaders explored Lithuania’s cultural map

In preparation for the extraordinary presentation of Lithuania’s cultural presentation at this year’s international Leipzig book fair at the end of March, the Lithuanian Culture Institute organized a visit from the representatives of 12 of Germany’s largest media channels. During the visit, the journalists learned about many of the artists to be presented in Leipzig, explored the cities of Vilnius and Kaunas, discovered the connections between our countries, and experienced the beauty of winter outside of Lithuania’s larger cities as well. More
