Lithuania to hold Parliamentary elections

Parliamentary elections will be held in Lithuania on 9 October, with a second round on 23 October in the constituencies where no candidate wins a majority in the first round of voting. All 141 seats in the Seimas (Parliament) are up for election. 71 in single-seat constituencies elected by majority vote and the remaining 70 in a nationwide constituency based on proportional representation.

 

 

EU must pay more attention to Eastern partners, says Linkevičius in a meeting with Mogherini

On 4 October in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and the Vice-President of the European Commission, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini discussed ways to strengthen Eastern Partnership, new initiatives in the field of the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), and the construction of the unsafe Astravets nuclear power plant (NPP) in Belarus. More

Rotational troops from Belgium deployed in Lithuania for a month-long training

On October 1 rotational force from Belgium deployed in Lithuania via Klaipėda Seaport and Palanga Airport. Roughly 350 soldiers and over 100 military vehicles will train in joint Exercise Baltic Piranha 2016 alongside Lithuanian troops. More

Lithuania ranks among global leaders when benchmarked for the preparation and procurement of Public and Private Partnerships (PPP).
