Dutch soldiers – a model of NATO unity and social solidarity

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte. After the bilateral meeting, the President and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands visited Dutch soldiers serving at the NATO’s enhanced forward presence battalion. Dalia Grybauskaitė underscored that the Netherlands, the second largest investor in Lithuania, currently was one of the main security partners as well. More

 

Prime Minister: agreement on regional SGD infrastructure package will reduce gas prices in the region

On Friday, at the invitation by the Prime Minister of Latvia, the Baltic Heads of Government are paying a visit to Inčukalns underground gas storage facility. Following the visit, the final agreement will be sought on the Baltic regional LNG infrastructure. Earlier on, the Baltic Prime Ministers have also went to Paldiski, where an LNG terminal is planned to be constructed, and paid a visit to Klaipėda LNG terminal. More

  

Lithuania and Italy share the same approach to security and collective defence

On August 8-9 Chief of the Italian Defence General Staff General Claudio Graziano and a delegation conducted a working visit in Lithuania. The guest met with Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas and Vice Foreign Minister Darius Skusevičius. More

 

First bilateral political consultations with Ghana held in Vilnius

On 9 August, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with members of the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana. “As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Ghana, we seek to strengthen bilateral cooperation with one of West Africa’s most stable democracies. We hope that an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement will create a more favourable environment for Lithuanian businesses in search of opportunities in Ghana,” said Vice-Minister Darius Skusevičius. More

Lithuania takes another step in the field of Fintech: Create your own sandbox

Companies developing maiden solutions in the field of financial technologies (Fintech) will be able to test their products in Lithuania – the result of public consultations with the aim of enabling companies to create a customised regulatory environment for financial innovations (regulatory sandbox). The Bank of Lithuania will oversee the companies’ operations and offer consultations. More

Global incubator 1776 selects Vilnius Tech Park to host Challenge Cup 2017

Global Network for Innovation 1776 and Vilnius Tech Park today announced they will join forces on 22 September in Vilnius to organise a local round of Challenge Cup 2017, an annual global competition around the world to identify the most promising startups that solve the world’s biggest challenges. Vilnius donating to its residents nearly 100 million euros to renew their yards

The City has found a way to encourage residents of Vilnius to renew the entire quarters of the old multi-apartment houses – the Council approved a large-scale ‘Neighbourhood territories’ renewal programme providing for compensation to 1,288 newly established neighbourhoods for a renewal of their respective quarters. More

 

A Team of Foreigners Took on an Important Mission in Kaunas

A group of foreign students who are volunteers staying in Kaunas is continuing work started by the city of Kaunas in the old Jewish cemetery of Žaliakalnis. Twenty five young men and women from Germany, Austria, Ukraine, and the Netherlands are continuing to document thousands of graves alongside their like-minded Lithuanian counterparts. More
