Another 34 Lithuanian soldiers start service in Mali

On 18 October, a squad made up of 34 Lithuanian soldiers started their service in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) as part of the German contingent. The Lithuanian troops will be responsible for ensuring the defence of the forces in the territory of the military base in Mali’s eastern province of Gao. More

  

Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas: it is essential to promote the greatest possible rapprochement of Eastern partners with the EU

On 15–17 October 2017, Viktoras Pranckietis, Speaker of the Seimas, paid an official visit to Bucharest, Romania, where he met with the leadership of the Romanian Parliament and representatives of the Government. The meetings focused on closer bilateral security and economic cooperation, cooperation between the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries, as well as top matters related to energy, security, politics, and economy. During his visit, Viktoras Pranckietis also opened the first Romanian-Lithuanian Business Forum where ten Lithuanian companies, which attended it, had an opportunity to establish closer contacts with Romanian businesses. More

Sentiance, Artificial Intelligence Innovators will Open a Research and Development Unit in Vilnius

The Belgian company Sentiance which is developing an artificial intelligence-based technology for studying human habits is settling in Lithuania. Over the next three years, the company plans to recruit about 30 data scientists and highly qualified software system specialists in the new Vilnius R&D unit. More

 

Foreign, Lithuanian firms eye investment in aircraft repairs at Kaunas FEZ

At least four foreign and one Lithuanian companies are interested in aircraft maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) at the Kaunas free economic zone (FEZ), however, the investments that would create up to 2,000 well-paid jobs with an average monthly salary of over 2,000 euros are stalled by the government's indecision, Verslo Zinios business daily. More

Lithuanian Cinema will Begin 2018 with a Film Retrospective in Paris

A cultural event series in France dedicated for the 100th anniversary of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania will be opened with one of the most significant projects of national cinema presentation in Europe. After three years of negotiations, an agreement was concluded this week between the Lithuanian Cinema Centre, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the French Republic and one of the largest film libraries in the world, Cinémathèque Française, based in Paris. The Lithuanian film program, which will last for almost a month, will begin in January of the following year. More

 

Gourmet gift for art lovers: the Samuel Bak museum

In exactly a month’s time, in the middle of November, the museum devoted to the internationally renowned painter Samuel Bak, born in Vilnius in 1933, will open its doors to visitors. The opening shall be attended by Samuel Bak, who is coming from the USA to this special event. More

 

 

Screening of Lithuanian films „The Gate of the Lamb“, „Woman and the Glacier“ takes place in Baku

On the initiative of the Embassy of Lithuania in Baku, Lithuanian documentary film director Audrius Stonys is visiting Azerbaijan.
